God’s people have never been perfect.

What I love about the bible is how the characters are real.

Jesus wept. He was real but was perfect.

Peter denied Christ.

Timothy, the Apostle Paul’s protégé was timid.

Rahab had a dark past as a prostitute.

Moses had a temper and killed a man.

Elijah fought a great battle and then became depressed as he hid from Jezebel.

King David had bouts with depression and couldn’t control his household.

Matthew was a tax collector and in New Testament days which was more deplorable than a thief.

Abraham was a coward and tried to pass his beautiful wife off as his sister for person safety reasons.

Gideon was a coward.

I could go on but I can see traits I struggle with in many of these characters. I’m so glad God uses flawed personalities. It reminds me of the verse in 1 Corinthians 4; 7 that says, “We have this light shining in our hearts but we are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God and not ourselves.”

It sure takes the pressure off of our own performance, thank the Lord! All we have to do is polish up those jars so the reflection will sparkle and shine through.

Good to think about if you’re having a bad day. You’re welcome.

Upcoming Schedule

I get a kick out of celebrating moments and milestones in my life… So often we trudge through our everyday schedule, not recognizing all the wonderful blessings we’ve received.   I’m in celebration mode. My book, Lake Surrender is two years old! And instead of birthday cake, I’m putting together a contest.   Here are the prizes: […]
